In the wake of the 2016 election, challenges to academic freedom have intensified, and issues of free speech on campus have grown increasingly controversial. In his new book, The Future of Academic Freedom, author Henry Reichman surveys campus disputes over online education, the rights of student protesters, ideological donors, and collective bargaining, among other topics. A longtime leader in the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), Reichman links these issues to concerns with what some have labeled “academic capitalism.”
