What about the Disney Hypothesis?

An interesting article appears today in the San Francisco Chronicle about debate at UC-Berkeley over the cause of the extinction of the dinosaurs. Was it caused by a comet striking the Earth? Or something else? A more precise estimate of the timing of the strike has been produced.

But what happened to the Disney hypothesis – which Southern Californians can relate to – that it was all due to too much sunshine and not enough water?

Simon and Garfunkel once sang about the “Sound of Silence.” When rain forced the weekly networking event at Anderson indoors last Thursday, silence was not what was heard: It was more like a typical deafening LA trendy restaurant. Back in Simon and Garfunkel’s day, the occupation of choice was in “plastics.” Soon it will be in hearing aids.

USC Has a Bad Patch

We posted yesterday about the news from UC-Berkeley that many earthquake-prone buildings are located in southern California – including in Westwood. The Westwood-Century City Patch, in picking up the story from the LA Times, blamed USC instead of UC-B, at least in the headline. See above. Probably just as well. Who wants to be the bearer of bad tidings?.
